Charon

for clarinet, violin and cello

The title Charon refers to the boatman in Greek mythology who ferries the souls of the deceased across the river Acheron to the land of the dead. The music itself isn’t intended to be expressly programmatic, but the idea of moving between worlds or states is embodied in the piece's gradual yet methodical transition from an eerie unison pattern to a dramatic climax.
