Domination of Black, which takes its title from a poem by Wallace Stevens, opens with a low, resonant chord progression in the piano that is stated 6 times over the course of the piece. Each time the progression creeps higher and higher while the surrounding instruments form a floating halo of resonance.
Charon likewise presents a dramatic yet methodical transformation in which an eerie unison pattern expands and intensifies.
